THE BETTER HOUR:
The Legacy of
William Wilberforce
This documentary film will air
nationally on public television
beginning in March 2008 in time for
Black History Month.
This one-hour documentary shot in
high definition will coincide with
international events in 2007-08
commemorating the 200th anniversary of
the abolition of British and American
slave trade in a 20-year heroic effort
led by British Parliamentarian William
Wilberforce (U.S. legislation made
effective January 1, 1808).
This program will provide greater
content and commentary on the
inspiration and influence of
Wilberforce, who in his day was a
household name in both the UK and
America, and soon will be once again
with major events planned for this 200th
anniversary by Parliament, Congress,
charitable institutions, universities
and museums. Funded by the John
Templeton Foundation.
